In the sequence majority of the images seen are phones. People on their phones all the time.
3. What connotations do these images carry?
This carrys a connection that the whole movie plot will include something about phones.
4. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?
The film gives off the mystery feeling because you see this person on their phone all day you think isn't that what I do as well? I wonder why a movie showcases this? What would I do without my phone? The movie opening sequence creates all these questions in your head.
5. The movie appeals to the audience by using cheerful non-diegetic music and it shows phones which is our generations biggest obsession.
6. The setting is used great because in the begging of the opening is the sun shining on the character that is morning time and as soon as she wakes up she grabs her phone. Then at the end of the opening sequence it is night and she still is on her phone. Sound is also used well because there is cheerful music throughout until the end of the opening sequence the audio gets deep and distorted which is creepy. There is also a high angle used when there is a train packed with people and all you see is everyone on there phones so that really ties into the plot.
